Native apps:

Are downloaded from the app store an installed on your mobile device. Contents are loaded by the app rather than within a website.

Advantages: Native apps are usually better adapted to the specific device they are installed at than hybrid apps.

Disadvantages: Every operating system needs its own app. Therefore development effort is greater than with hybrid apps or mobile websites.

Hybrid apps:

Are also downloaded an installed on a mobile device. The core of a hybrid app consists of a single web view rather than of multiple views with proprietary controls. The content of the web view is the same for all operating systems.

Advantages: Development effort is smaller than with native apps. Therefore they are usually less expensive. Modification of content needs to be made only once instead of once per operating system.

Disadvantages: Look and feel is not as good as with native apps. Not as fast as native apps.

Mobile websites:

Websites that are optimized for small display sizes. The presentation of content depends on the display size of the device. Modern websites are therefore written in HTML 5 and CSS 3.
